A Path Less Traveled

We have spent the last few days in Winter Park, Colorado. My very good friend, graciously offered us her condo for a week. Today we went to Rocky Mountain National Park and hiked to a beautiful waterfall. This is our day in pictures......

Outrigger Island......

Yesterday our church started our Vacation Bible School week. I had an opportunity to help with the youth. We took a hike at Creve Coeur Lake and had a great time. I am so blessed to be able to serve the Lord and do the things that I am passionate about. Our scripture memory verse this year is
Psalm 86:11
Teach me Your way O Lord
And I WILL walk in Your truth,
Give me and undivided heart,
That I may fear Your Name......

Spring 2008 Mexico Mission Trip

This is a video from my last mission trip to Reynosa, Mexico. We take a team of 10 people and join with Strategic Alliance Ministries to build "Homes for the Homeless". The homes that we build are no more than over-glorified sheds, but to the families that receive them, they are mansions. We go into the garbage dump with a pile of wood and willing hearts and 4 days latter we leave our families with a new home and a hope. The family realizes that Jesus is the only reason that we go. I thank the Lord for allowing us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our brothers and sisters South of the border......Praise His Holy Name!

Unexpected Commentary

I was hiking with some friends the other day and we stopped to do a devotion out of the "Everyday Study Bible." We read the commentary regarding I Samuel 16, the part about children and it said that children were the least important in society back in Jesus' day. It made reference to Mark 10:15...."I tell you the truth, you must accept the kingdom as if you were a little child or you will never enter it."

I always thought that meant that you should come to Christ with child-like faith. This commentary says children were regarded as unimportant and did not have faith. So, when Jesus made this statement, he might actually have been telling people to stop thinking so highly of themselves and start thinking more of themselves as little children.

Like the children of the world of Jesus, followers of Jesus need to content themselves with having little or no power to make people act like they want them to act. We can't control other people.

We need to relinquish the way we try to control others. It's not our job to play "junior god." There is a fine line between teaching people and controlling them. As people, we have a hard time hiking that fine line.
